MACKINAC ISLAND TOY DESIGN: RACE-IMALS(FINAL PRODUCT NEAR BOTTOM)
Using the 5 step design process I developed a toy that included a simple machine within part of the design. This process started by a large group identification of the problem and brainstorming of ideas, selecting a business partner and agreeing and defining a toy design we wanted to develop, building a prototype/ model and creating production drawings.
Step 1- First, our class developed characteristics of what a good child's toy for 3-5year olds would have.
Step 3- Then, individually, we came up with quick sketches of ideas trying to connect our class room ideas and simple machines into thoughts.

Step 2- Next, our class went more into depth, coming up with specific toy ideas/concepts.
Step 4- Afterwards, we paired up with a partner and created our actual sketch for the idea we generated.

Steps 5 & 6- We then had a time limit to actually build our ideas in class. After we built it, we had to transfer it into a CAD drawing(left). Josh and I called our idea Race-imals, operating under the company name of Tremendous Trinkets. Our Race-Imal is a pull back platform along with velcro socks so you can attach any of your animals to the platform! In this way, you can play individually with any of your animals, or race your friends Race-imals!
Step 7: After developing our product, we created a business proposal to the "Mackinac Island Toy Company".
